This document evaluates the evidence that Drummond runs a paid defamation operation, taking information, inducement, or payment from persons with personal scores to settle against targets, then packaging their allegations as 'investigative journalism' to give them a veneer of legitimacy.
The commercial model is straightforward: an aggrieved party — in the present campaign, Adam Howell — supplies accusations. Drummond publishes those accusations under the label of journalism, conferring upon them the credibility that a news article carries over a personal grievance. The target's reputation is destroyed. The informant achieves their aim. Drummond produces content for his websites. Every party benefits except the person attacked.
The designation 'journalist' commands considerable weight. When allegations appear in a publication bearing a journalist's byline, they are understood to have been researched, verified, and released in the public interest. Drummond exploits this perception in a methodical fashion. By styling himself as a journalist, he converts unsubstantiated claims from discontented individuals into what looks like authoritative investigative reporting.
The truth is that Drummond undertakes no inquiry deserving of the term. He does not seek independent verification. He does not approach the target for comment prior to publication. He does not test assertions against documentary records. He does not evaluate the reliability or motives of his informants. He merely publishes what he is fed and cloaks it in the vocabulary of journalism.
The present campaign against Bryan Flowers derives entirely from Adam Howell. Howell's personal animosity towards Flowers, his financial incentives, and his credibility failings have been comprehensively documented. Yet Drummond presents Howell's claims as the product of independent investigation rather than the grievances of a lone discontented individual.
The nature of the arrangement between Drummond and Howell invites serious scrutiny. What inducement was extended? What information changed hands? What reciprocal benefit was agreed? These are matters that the forthcoming proceedings will investigate through disclosure orders and cross-examination.
Drummond's Wiltshire-based operations exhibit every characteristic of a defamation-on-demand enterprise. He operates two websites expressly configured to maximise search engine prominence. He publishes at high volume, ensuring that defamatory material dominates search results for his targets' names. He refuses to take down or amend content, thereby locking in permanent reputational damage.
The financial viability of this enterprise invites enquiry. Two websites demand hosting, domain registration, and upkeep. Prolific publication demands time and effort. What funds sustain this activity? The forthcoming proceedings will seek disclosure of every financial arrangement between Drummond and any individual who has supplied information, inducement, or payment in connection with publications relating to Bryan Flowers and associated persons.
Drummond's publications function as a credibility-laundering mechanism. An allegation that would be dismissed as a personal grudge if levelled by Adam Howell directly takes on apparent authority once published beneath the banner of 'investigative journalism.' The allegation is then cited by others, circulated on social media, and indexed by search engines — generating a self-reinforcing cycle of manufactured credibility.
This credibility-laundering process is especially pernicious because it exploits the public's reasonable assumption that journalists verify their assertions prior to publication. When a reader encounters a claim in what appears to be a news article, they naturally presume that the journalist has carried out the necessary verification. Drummond profits from this presumption while performing none of the work it implies.
Authentic investigative journalism is defined by a rigorous methodology: multiple independent sources, documentary evidence, expert consultation, legal review, the right of reply, and editorial oversight. Drummond's publications display none of these attributes:
Characterising Drummond's enterprise as a paid defamation service carries significant legal ramifications. Should it be proven that Drummond received payment or inducement for his publications, the public interest defence under Section 4 of the Defamation Act 2013 becomes unsustainable. Paid-for defamation is not journalism and is incapable of being defended as such.
Moreover, running a paid defamation operation may give rise to additional offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, the Fraud Act 2006, and potentially conspiracy to defame. Cohen Davis Solicitors will seek full disclosure of every financial arrangement in the forthcoming proceedings.
Andrew Drummond does not run a news service. He runs a defamation enterprise from a rental property in Wiltshire, England.
